My end of year column on UK funky, grime, road rap, dubstep and 130. The longest article I've written in several years but the Twitter reaction alone made it well worth it... so, erm, thanks! :)
Not much to disagree with there - I think that the column title by this time next year could reasonably change from 'Grime/Dubstep' to something like 'Dubstep/Funky', for many of the reasons you outlined in that section.
Agree with anonymous - I enjoyed the various views of experts in their field but it would be good to hear a top ten from you!
No mention of Clubroot's second album? Nothing really club-ready but, in my opinion, outstanding. His first seemed to go near enough unnoticed last year as well. 'Orbiting' could well be my track of the year.
Re Clubroot, I think his second flows better as an album. I thought the interlude tracks in his first album interrupted it a bit but there's only one on this second set and I think it really works. I suppose it's not so different but there are a few more middle-eastern (?) references. On the whole I'd say it's better than the first, although I would urge repeated listening to the first as well.

Excellent read! big up Martin
I could do a top 10/20 but it's going to have loads of LHF in it. is that going to be a problem?

Patrick.
I've heard one Club Root album, guess it was the first, but it didn't do much for me I'm afraid. How different was the second?

No probs abput LHF in your Top 10...
It would be good to see what you were feeling all year.
Agreed, would love to see your top 10, Blackdown! I think having Amen Ra, Double Helix, and Low Density Matter in any top 10 is perfectly sane!
Really good article Blackdown, nice one. Only gap for me was the Ikonika album.
